Sega's amazing mech action game
Virtua On 2 has finally been announced
for the Dreamcast. After waiting nearly 2
months since the game's release in Japan,
Sega finally game the word out about the
game.
Well, that was the good news,
but here's the bad news, there won't be
any network gameplay. Gamer's Republic
had an interview with one of the
developers from the Virtua On 2 team.
Here's what he had to say about the
network gameplay:
Gamers Republic: Why is there no
network support for the U.S version of
Virtual On 2?
Juro Witari: Until someone
creates a network infastructure for
Dreamcast analogous to Dwango in Japan,
network battle will be impossible in the
U.S. You might say "Why can't we
battle over the net in Virtual On 2?
Quake can do it!" The reason is the
difference between whether the network is
synchronous or asynchronus.
Sega of America won't be the publisher
for the game, because they're still not
sure if people will buy the game even
without the network gameplay, and because
you'll need the Two Sticks to play the
game. The Two Sticks is a very costly
peripheral, so Sega doesn't want to take
a chance. It is rumored Infogrames will
bring the game to the U.S. and Europe.
